It’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day–the lone event worth celebrating today. Given what’s happened to this damn country in the past three months alone, this holiday hits different this year. Through ongoing education and activism, the beliefs of MLK Jr will not only live on, but will assist those who choose to resist the incoming tyranny. After all, it’s better to honor a king over a felon.
If you’re choosing to stay at home today like me, give his Letter From Birmingham Jail a read. (It’s free!)

I guess the things/people I can be thankful for this year are…
–Kylie Minogue, for existing and Tension II
–Megan Thee Stallion, for existing and the run she’s had this year
–Christina Aguilera, for existing and showing the world that she still has it
–getting the chance to see all three perform live this year
–owning the entire Married With Children series on DVD as I’ve been binge-watching the show yet again and that I don’t have to stream it (their crass yet self-deprecating humor soothes me)
–being super-duper fully vaccinated (got all my Covid shots and boosters and they do work because I’m still here and feeling fine after catching Covid for the first time this past summer)
–And not living with guilt when it came to this year’s elections. I voted Biden in the Primaries, voted early for Kamala, and not once did I tell others that “both sides are bAd” or to “not vote” this year, nor admitted that it was “my first time voting” while being in my late 30s because I’d been voting since I turned 18! (Some things weren’t meant to admit to the world, no matter how many internet Likes you’d get.)

Gonna celebrate like Samantha Jones on this International Childfree Day today (aka JD Vance’s least favorite day of the year 😆)
Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra said it best on this Transgender Day of Visibility🏳️⚧️🩵🩷🤍:

How I’m celebrating this holiday: by admiring the sights of rainbows from my studio apartment and getting out to vote! The weather here still isn’t pretty, but I’ll always enjoy a rainbow sighting (the one pretty thing to come from this icky rain). And my state’s Primary Election Day is in two weeks. If you haven’t yet voted in your state’s primaries, get out and vote! These days, all elections matter!
I did this a year ago, and, if time/weather permits, this may become a New Year’s tradition! And after all the rain we’ve had, oh how I miss a clear, sunny sky.
Yup. Although I’ll be more focused on writing my latest work-in-progress instead of the NYE festivities on TV tonight. A book can’t write itself, you know!
Happy New Years to you all! 🥳🍾
I’m always intrigued over what my favorite celebs will do for Halloween. So far, Christina’s Cher had me gagged, Mariah’s Jessica Rabbit served, and I’m wondering if/what thee Kylie will dress up this year.
Then I saw this clip…
…and I don’t know if it can be topped. I can be a sucker for anything Showgirls-related. And I didn’t know that was Ariana Grande playing Nomi Malone; she nailed it!
Happy Halloween, everyone!
